PRAMOD MANN : TREE NYMPH Black marble

On a pedestal stood a black marble head, a face of aquiline features, it had a charisma that drew me to its compositional control and clarity of thought. RICHARD AVEDON PORTRAITS:
Yesterday I came across a stunning expressive portrait of Edward Gorey taken by the brilliant Richard Avedon.This black and white study is at once austere and full of a deep sense of calm as well as a rare melancholy that is born of meditation. It has Gorey's cat nestled around his neck like a warm furry muffler. The cat is comfortable seated in reverie curled around her master's nack happy to have a place to sink into langour as it were.
