Aakriti Art Gallery is seeking to recruit 2 Gallery Interns to join the team at an exciting time before a busy forthcoming exhibition and art fair period.
Key Responsibilities will include:
Responsible for the day-to-day running of the gallery, interacting with clients and facilitating all phases of the exhibition planning process.
Meet clients and receipt items for the relevant sale. Manage the gallery with assistance. Monitor incoming and outgoing items. Ensure that the gallery area is presentable at all times.
Deal with email enquiries. Assist with photography and take additional photographs of items for clients and specialists. Liaise with vendors and specialists to confirm sale estimates and reserves.
Assist in the production of sale catalogues. Upload relevant text and images to the various online sites.
Organise marketing and advertising in print and electronic media. Monitor web based advertising. Compose mass emails to clients in the run up to the auction. Understand and engage with social media in various forms.
Manage the consignment of artworks and prepare the saleroom for exhibitions. Assist specialists with all pre-exhibition enquiries.
Ensure that all gallery website content are monitored and kept up to date. Assist with the break-down of the exhibition and the preparation for the sale day.
Assist with invoicing and payment in the days following the sale. Assist with shipping and arrange postage and packaging for lower value items.
The candidates are also expected to travel when and where required with gallery office work, shows or events
Assisting sales team and contributing to client database.
The Ideal Candidate will have:
Art background along with co-ordination, logistical organisational skills.
Excellent communication and delegation skills are essential.
Experience and knowledge of operating a wide variety of tools and machinery.
Computer literate all Microsoft office packages ideally, Photoshop.
Mr. Shafique Farooqi born in 1942 in Sialkot, Pakistan. He had done his Master from Istanbul University and NCA In his 59 years of his art career he has done more than 10,000 art pieces and 105 Solo shows in USA, England, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Germany, Sudan, France, Canada, Holland, Turkey and Pakistan. He has mastered the arts of Free hand Sketches Calligraphy, Landscape, Watercolor, Etching, Symbolic art, ceramic art, Symbiosis concept of art (Journey of Line) and Spiritual art (Whirling Dervishes) which reveals his personality in a novel creation, “The Tale of Drunken Flute in Whirling Dervishes”, already launched in Pakistan & Turkey.
In his early-career Shafique Farooqi has taken to the painting of calligraphy. His calligraphic paintings aimed at painting the letters of the Arabic alphabet.

In Shafique Farooqi’s landscape paintings, there is always a central object, perhaps a tree that has attracted the artist’s full attention. He has treated it in the spirit of a portrait, and has generally succeeded in revealing the whole atmosphere of the landscape in reference to the single tree
Mr. Shafique Farooqi spent almost 17 Years of his life in Turkey from 1983 to 1999 and honorably represented Pakistan at all levels. He received 5 prestigious awards during his stay in Turkey. He taught Islamic Calligraphy and Landscape of Pakistan to hundreds of students. In Turkey, he creates the concept his work is influenced by Sufi mysticism. In his this series of paintings, he uses the whirling dervish “SEMA” of the Mevlevi order as his inspiration. During his stay in Turkey he also create a new concept in the field of art “Symbiosis concept of art (Journey of Line)”
During his stay in turkey He worked as an Advisor in Floyra Istanbul center for Rehabilitation of Disable children and made it model center in Turkey with help of Lion club and foreign funding. Further his paintings on disabled persons have won him honor and distinction in Turkey, England and Germany, and Holland have been prized most for his compassion for the retarded and handicapped children.
Mr. Shafique Farooqi’s 260 painting has commissioned in USA, England, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Germany, Sudan, France, Canada, Holland, Turkey and Pakistan.
Mr. Shafique Farooqi donated 10 Master Pieces for Diamer bhasha dam. These were sold and the proceeds were presented as contribution towards the dam funds.
