Photography has long been my pursuit . The journey of my photography began when I was nine and with a camera Isoly-II. Being Kolkata based, self taught, amateur photographer and employed in Deptt. of Post, Govt. Of India, I find the subjects for my photography abundantly strewn in life around me. The urge to unearth art latent in images and objects around us, makes me probe deeper into things through my lens every time I click my camera. As always my photography is the portrayal of the fusion of familiar with the unfamiliar. The shapes that grasp the imagination of the photographer appear both realistic and fantastical at the same time, in the images. The fragile lines of thought are arrested in my photographs in real or abstract form. Images kindle my imagination and there is a superb blending of the two. Modern day haste, confusion, complex thought process, urban life style, sophisticated entertainment, loneliness , desire, passion, agony are well woven with epic, myth, music, eternity and life at large. To enrich my work I always visit various Art Galleries of Kolkata to see the photographs and paintings of contemporary artists. Now I use Nikon D-40X and Nikon Cool Pix L-5 and I think that for art photography camera is not the main key, the only key is the inner art sense of mixing real with surreal. My first solo exhibition titled “Kingshooker Chhobi” was held in the year 2008 at Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata. My 2nd & 3rd solo exhibitions were organised at Academy of Fine arts, Kolkata in the year 2009 and 2011 respectively. I was selected for “ Your work is important” an exhibition of photographs on rights of domestic workers, organised by International Labour Organisation, New Delhi at India habitat Centre , New Delhi.
