Aakriti Art Gallery all set to unveil GenNext IV
The time is ripe again for yet another burst of intellectual brainstorming synthesised with a unique visual experience. The time-- for the GenNext to take centrestage for the fourth year and surprise the critics, connoisseurs, curators and historians alike with a fresh bout of energy and thought. The time-- for Aakriti Art Gallery's annual show. The time – more precisely the day-- is October 1, 2009.
GenNext—the first of its kind in this part of the world is not just an art exhibition. It is also a brainstorming session, about the relevance and metamorphosis of art as a whole. Thus the show, held at Aakriti Art Gallery, Kolkata, India, from October 1 to October 15, 2009, between 11 am and 7 pm daily except Sundays, will also be accompanied by a thought-provoking interactive session and symposium at Emami Chisel Arts, Kolkata on October 2 and 3.
The GenNext IV exhibition will showcase paintings, sculptures, textile and fine prints along with photography, interactive sculptures, digital prints, installations and video installations, thus expanding the boundary of the conventional faculties of visual arts. And keeping to its tradition of being an international platform for young artists, the geographical boundary of GenNext IV will not only cover every corner of India and its neighbours Pakistan and South Korea, but go beyond to reach far west till Hungary in Europe and further into USA. thirty-four young artists, all below forty years of age from around the world, will participate this year in the exhibition.
And while the exhibition goes on, the GenNext IV artists will also participate in the interactive session, along with some of the finest artists, art critics and historians from across India.
